Kangal - Ancient Guardian, Devoted Family Protector

Immense. Calm. Quietly formidable. The Kangal is a breed that has guarded families and livestock for thousands of years in Turkey — and that ancient protective instinct is still very much alive today.

At Pets Hub Puppies, we raise Kangals with the space, structure, and social connection this powerful breed needs to become a stable, loyal, and trustworthy companion.

Why Choose a Kangal?

The Kangal is one of the oldest and most capable guardian breeds in the world. Enormous in size yet calm in temperament, they are devoted to family, instinctively protective, and one of the most impressive dogs you will ever encounter.

Born to ProtectThe Kangal’s guarding instinct is unmatched — they are naturally alert, protective, and deeply territorial when it comes to their family.

Deeply IndependentKangals think for themselves — they are intelligent, self-reliant dogs that make their own judgements rather than looking for constant instruction.

Needs Space & LandKangals are large, active dogs that require significant outdoor space. They are best suited to farm settings or homes with large, secure gardens.

Questions We Hear a Lot — Answered Honestly

Is a Kangal suitable for a first-time dog owner?

The Kangal is best suited to experienced owners who understand large, independent guardian breeds. They need confident, knowledgeable handling and clear, consistent boundaries.

Are Kangals good with children?

With children they are raised with, yes — Kangals can be deeply gentle and protective of the youngest family members. Supervision with unfamiliar children is always recommended.

How much space does a Kangal need?

A great deal. Kangals are not apartment dogs — they need a large, secure outdoor area. Farm properties or homes with expansive land are ideal.

What is the minimum age at which you rehome puppies?

We rehome from 45 days onwards and never before. Before that point, pups are still learning critical social behaviours from their mother and littermates.

Can I see the puppy’s parents before deciding?

In most cases, yes. Seeing the sire or dam gives you a good sense of the adult size, coat colour, and energy level your pup will grow into.
